Investment Strategy

With its first regional fund, TVM Capital MENA invests in attractive healthcare businesses that have the potential for rapid and profitable growth. The primary focus of the Fund is healthcare services, including, but not limited to small hospitals, hospital and supply management, providers of outsource services to health care delivery facilities, clinics, clinical trial management, medical laboratories (diagnostics or imaging among others), and other healthcare services including IT and insurance. Opportunities to consolidate mid-market operators and create businesses that have scale, brand recognition and a significantly improved operating standard, will be the focus of Fund investment. The consolidation will be accomplished through a mix of acquisition and green field roll-up strategies.

A second focus of the Fund is the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry, including, but not limited to, the manufacturing, sales and distribution, in-licensing, and importation of pharmaceuticals, medical device and medical technology companies, as well as logistics and other businesses in the pharmaceutical and life sciences value chain.

Role in Syndications. In investments we make in the region, TVM Capital MENA acts as the international sector specialist with extensive networks of industry specialists and expertise, and adding value at the board level as an active shareholder.

The Market Opportunity. The healthcare and life sciences industry is recognized as an engine for growth and value creation in the early 21st century irrespective of global economic conditions and regions. The MENA region is no exception and rapidly increasing demand for the improved healthcare in the region will drive the TVM Capital MENA investing focus. Of greatest importance are:

  • Higher quality healthcare services accessibility through general hospitals or specialized clinics;
  • Medical devices to treat the growing prevalence of chronic disease;
  • Generic and affordable medicines for growing populations that demand health solutions at reasonable prices;
  • Novel patent protected and specialized pharmaceuticals; and,
  • Private-sector health insurance and the provision of medical care on a private and out-of-pocket basis as governments strive to control costs.

TVM Capital MENA understands these new demands on the provision of healthcare and the competitive international environment under which healthcare innovation occurs. As a result, the firm will be an early catalyst in the region for the development of healthcare solutions to meet the anticipated growth of demand.
